We went to a fortress called Burg Landeck (http://www.burglandeck-pfalz.de/Home). There is a difference between a castle and a fortress (I'm assuming you all know that). It was lots of fun. We had an early dinner snack before our normal dinner that evening elsewhere. Snack of the night was Flammkuchen and Beer.
There was a great view of the entire state of Rheinland-Pfalz and surrounding regions overlooking the vineyards of mostly Riesling grapes.
